the journey

The christian life isn't easy. Nobody said it would be.

A couple of years ago as I was wrestling with the Lord (yes, I know...) my mother reminded me that the christian life is a journey. We don't "arrive" at a destination, we keep going and growing and learning and changing. Allowing ourselves to be shaped more and more like Him.

Ah. That resonated deep. I'm on a journey. And the path is not so wide open and free of traffic. Rather, it's often a road loaded with potholes in need of patching--or even an unpaved dirt road. It has steep sides and wrecks along the way.

Now to see joy in the midst of it all. But how?

To seek His face, to grasp onto His peace in midst of the disasters around us.
After all, He promised to never leave us, no matter what the journey is like. I, for one, cannot imagine traversing this life without His constant presence. Yes, even on the days I wrestle Him.

So as Philippians 3:14 says, I press on toward to goal...
